Intended purpose
Periosteal elevator is intended for use by orthopaedic and oral surgeons to elevate and reflect the periosteum from the bone surface during bone surgery, fracture reduction, and dento-alveolar procedures. The instrument is applied to the periosteum and cortical bone surface. The thin flat blade is passed between the periosteum and cortical bone to create a plane for atraumatic periosteal elevation. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
