Intended purpose
Plaster cast shears are intended for use by orthopaedic technicians and clinicians to cut through plaster of Paris and synthetic casting material during cast removal. The shears are applied to the cast material adjacent to patient skin. The curved lower blade allows passage beneath the cast material adjacent to skin without penetrating the skin surface. The device is reusable and requires validated decontamination and sterilisation between uses.
