Intended purpose
Kirschner wire is intended for use by orthopaedic surgeons to provide temporary skeletal fixation of bone fragments and guide wire placement for cannulated screws during orthopaedic fracture management and surgical procedures. The wire is inserted percutaneously or intraoperatively into bone. The wire is introduced using a power or hand drill and may be used for temporary fixation pending definitive surgical treatment. Confirm MDR classification — implantable status may require Class IIa or higher classification.
